Some of it can be attributed to job-spam for cleaning\hauling, but it still has the microstutters when those jobs are turned off. Very late game (we're talking 10-20 years in), the game slows down considerably. Vanilla doesn't do it, but some mods probably do. Could this be relevant?īuilding complex strings with repeated string allocations is one out of a thousand things that can spew memory and make GC spikes. It just stuck with me since it describes the problem that a lot of people are having in Rimworld at late game. This is a bit of a shot in the dark, but during my own development in Unity, I came across someone mentioning that strings could cause stuttering and tiny lagspikes due to garbage collection, and that the way around it was to use stringbuilder instead of strings. Quote from: ReZpawner on November 10, 2019, 10:56:37 AM So any ideas, any fixes? I want to enjoy my old rimworld again but i can not stand this stutter. Specs i7-8700k and a nvdia 1060 first i thought my cpu crapped itself and testet it on another machine with identical specs, same results. I even see up to date let's plays with stutters and these guys like they dont recognize it. I don't understand how people are able to play these days. I reverted to b18 and loaded some b18 mods, no stuttering <3ĭon't get me wrong but something must happen. Guess what the more mods, the more insane the stutter. If i load 2 mods - mod manager and combat extended the frametime spike at 3x speed occur more frequent and it is also visible to the human eye as a micro stutter. I used fps monitor to visualize frametime spikes and even in an unmodded vanilla new game i get them on 3x speed like every 40 seconds? This thread has a lot of extremely useful advice on how to improve load times.I recently returned from a rimworld break since spring 18.īack then i used like 150 mods and had no stuttering. If you have not already, you should try one or more of the mod-sorting utilities out there.Your stutter every 5 seconds is quite likely an artifact of Unity's Garbage Cleanup ("GC") cycle if so, there's not much you can do about it.QoL-only mods generally do not have either problem and yes, it IS possible for a mod to be both script- and definition-heavy. On the other hand, definition-heavy mods tend to cause longer load times but usually won't slow down gameplay much, if at all. They actually do so from the start but the change may not be perceptible with few mods. Script-heavy mods WILL inevitably cause slowdowns and stuttering, at least eventually.Unfortunately, however, it's also necessary for quite a few fun mods. JecsTools is notorious for causing stutters. Please remember, this is speculation based on imperfect recall that has been recently altered with extravagantly liberal application of THC. I hope somebody know it. I have look into every mod in steam and read the description and i don't get any error at start up. In the log there is no error, there is nothing from a mod in these 5 seconds.)Ġ.0065ms (self: 0.0056 ms) ExecuteToExecuteWhenFinished() Because of this, it is really hard to deactivate mods one by one. Maybe somebody know some of these mods and can help me, to find the problematic mod/ mods. Now i have only mods with which i would play the game. I have delete today over 100 mods and I'm sad that no mod seems to create these stutters. I have all mods from the steam workshop, no offline downloads. I think it is a mod which try to control something every 5 seconds, but don't know it. When i start a new colony, i get lags every 5 seconds. Finally i will play a more complex game with mods. I don't find anything like this in the mod section. I hope this is the right place to ask performance problems with mods.
